Who We Are

Our mission is simple: to help imperfect people experience the perfect love of Jesus.

Through authentic community and Bible centered teaching, we believe the church should be a place where no perfect people are allowed-just real people growing in faith, grounded in Scripture and transformed by His grace.

Our Story

In 2019, Pastor Josh Hartman felt a clear call to plant a church rooted in authenticity, grace, and the truth of God’s Word. That calling became reality in 2021 with the launch of The Word Church in Heath, Ohio.

Our mission is simple: to help imperfect people experience the perfect love of Jesus through authentic community and Bible-centered teaching. We believe the church should be a place where no perfect people are allowed—just real people growing in faith, grounded in Scripture, and transformed by His grace.

Our Beliefs

This one God has eternally existed in three persons: God the Father, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit.  He is the creator of the heavens and earth and all living things.  He created humanity intentionally and with purpose.  He made us male and female in His own image and He designed us to live in a close, loving relationship with Him- now and for eternity.

The Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments of the Holy Bible are the inspired Word of God (2 Timothy 3:16) presenting to us the complete revelation of God's will for mankind.  God has a plan for you and it's in His Word!

Man is a created being, made in the likeness and the image of God, but through Adam’s transgression and fall, sin came into the world (Romans 5:12). "All have sinned and come short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23). "As it is written, there is none righteous, no, not one" (Romans 3:10). Jesus Christ, the Son of God, was manifested to undo the work of the devil, and gave His life and shed His blood to redeem and restore man to God (1 John 3:8).

Salvation is God's gift to us-made possible because Jesus willingly died on the cross for our sins, was buried and rose again.  His death paid the price we could never pay and His resurrection opened the door for us to have new life.  The Holy Spirit draws our hearts towards Him.  When we accept Jesus, turn from our sin and put our faith in Him, God gives us a fresh start and begins changing us from the inside out.  This is what the Bible calls being "born again".

Ephesians 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

We believe that Jesus Christ will return to this earth just as He promised.  His return will be visible, powerful and glorious.  When He comes again, He will gather His people, make all things right and fully establish His Kingdom.  The Bible calls this our "Blessed Hope".  For believers, the return of Jesus is not something to fear- it's something to look forward to.  We believe in the resurrection of the dead, the final judgement and eternal life with God for those who belong to Jesus.  No one knows the day or the hour, so we choose to live ready.
